Today was a mostly downhill ride 54 mile ride, the only challenge was a strong headwind. Marathon Texas was a nice town with good services (fresh food, nice RV park, good restaurants and a great coffee shop), Sanderson is nothing like Marathon…
The ride between the two was scenic with great mountain views.
Our motel is clean and has a microwave and fridge, both critical for a food dessert. It’s hard to imagine the cost of healthy food when it’s 50 miles away (and that was a small store with limited selection in Marathon).
Jim and I walked Sanderson end to end to see if Google missed any stores, we found nothing. We did run unto the ACA group at the other end of town in the RV park. There was also a group of 24 europeans on their own bike tour. With luck we will cross paths over the next days.

Back to a food desert, only one store open today in Sanderson. No fresh fruits or vegetables. No open restaurants. Lunch was a can of soup, dinner a frozen meal. Lunch/ride-food PB&J on bagels and a can of ravioli and green beans for dinner (after an 80 mile ride)
End of the day accumulated miles
Our hotel had hammock chairs out front, very comfortable.
