Today was a 75 mile no services ride - no water or food for 75 miles. I started the day with a soft front tire, on inspection it had another goat-head (thorn). I pulled the front wheel and patched the tire. We still managed to role out about 7:30am, 30 minutes before sunrise. The mountains looked beautiful as the sun came up. We had a strong side wind and an easy climb for the first 50 miles. We stopped just before Valentine Texas and looked at the Prada art exhibit. Strange to see in the desert! The last 15 miles were downhill with a tailwind making the final push into Marfa easy. We stopped at the DQ to figure out where to stay (well to have ice cream and rest). We found the same campground the ACA folks are staying at and reserved a spot. El Cosmico is interesting, only reservable on-line, wood fired hot tubs, camping teepees and classic trailers. We found out more about our route for the next few days and are making tweaks to our plans (mostly skip here, go here info). Jim had a flat to repair and I had a frame bag to sew. I found dental floss much stronger then thread, and I need more practice. We then walked to town to get dinner and breakfast/road supplies for tomorrow.

Sounds like a nice ride into Marfa! We’re camping at the same place tomorrow night.
